この Why not? はもっと情報を知りたいときの、否定文への反応です。肯定文への応答には使えません。

A: Joe can’t come over today.
B: Why not?
A: He has too much homework.
A: ジョーは遊びに来られない。
B: どうして？
A: 宿題がたくさんあるから。

A: I don’t really want to go anywhere right now.
B: Why not?
A: I’m really tired.
A: 今は、あまりどこにも行きたくない。
